Your role

In this role you will do the tasks below:

• To oversee the operational tasks at IETS and STP plant, ensuring smooth operation. Environmental Quality Act, 1974 is complied in terms of:
  • Treated effluent wastewater discharge complies with Standard B of the Environmental Quality Act, 1974 [Environmental Quality (Industrial Effluent) Regulations 2009].
  • Emissions from scrubbers and exhaust comply with EQA Environmental Quality (Clean Air) Regulations 2014.
  • Scheduled Waste is managed according to EQA Environmental Quality (Scheduled Waste) Regulation 2005.
  • STP (EQA: Standard Third Schedule of the Environmental Quality Act 1974, under the Environmental Quality (Sewage) Regulation 2009
• To supervise and monitor the performance of the contractors. To make sure WESTERN DIGITAL’s rules and regulations are obeyed by the contractors.
• To troubleshoot wastewater-related issues at the IETS plant and at the production floor (Waste line drain pipeline & other related issues).
• To prepare, maintain, and update the up-to-date documentation for:
  • Operational control procedures, monitoring checklists, and PM procedures.
  • Contingency plan write-up.
  • Monthly & quarterly DOE report including final discharge monitoring (Ni, Zn, COD & Full report).
  • Cost per gallon wastewater treated.
  • Scheduled waste shipment invoice reporting and any relevant report preparation through the DOE online website.
• To ensure that the IMS System or any certifications is complied with at all time.
• To involve, coordinate, and follow up on upgrading projects. Involvement in the planning, installation, commissioning, and ensuring the project is carried out according to the requirements spelled out.
• To handle scrap wastes (from production) and scheduled waste disposal and storage.
• Continuous improvement at all wastewater and related areas will benefit in terms of treatment system efficiency treated wastewater discharge stability (in terms of quality) and waste reduction. Monitoring of treatment process performance & plant optimization.
• To identify opportunities for cost savings and expense reduction. 
• To supervise Shift / Normal Shift Coordinators and a group of IETS technicians by:
  1. Providing training or development programs to improve their performance and capability in handling /maintaining wastewater systems.
  2. To delegate tasks/projects such as maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting tasks to the technicians.
  3. Always provide sufficient guidance and advice to the technicians.
• Conduct meetings with contractors and follow up on daily wastewater and sewage operation-related issues.
• To plan for the capital budget and expense budget. The expense is to be managed within the budgeted amount.
• To purchase spare parts and keep the inventory updated.
• To keep track of instrument calibration and preventive maintenance for IETS and STP equipment.
• To set up a communication network with production in order to be continuously updated on any changes in the processes or chemicals used through wastewater treatability tests. The purpose is to ease the wastewater treatment operation and to ensure loading to the treatment processes is within the design spec.
• Proper housekeeping at IETS and STP.

About you

To apply for this role, you are required to own the qualifications below:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Wastewater Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or equivalent
• Fresh graduate /1 year experience in IETS & STP and troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing environment.

It will also be better if you have the following skills:

• Competency in CePIETSO (BP), CePIETSO (PCP), and CePSTPO would be an added advantage.
• Dynamic and strategic thinking during daily activities.
• Knowledge / Trained in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and BCMS 22301 standards will be an added advantage.
