Working in Dyson's world-class Research, Design, and Development department, Dyson's Product Development team takes ideas to the next level.  Each generation of Dyson technology must set the benchmark for the next. Dyson is looking for Graduate Design Engineers to work alongside leading technical specialists and highly motivated creative people, to develop products that fulfill our ambition of being truly different and better than Dyson's competitors.

About the role

As an intern within the Graphics & Packaging team, you’ll be expected to gain exposure to print technical and related processes. Working closely in a production environment, you will get a chance to complete the missing link between graphic design and final products.

You will get to engage with print suppliers and stakeholders on technical (design and print) related issues, discover the root causes of problems, and understand the production limitations in order to deliver high standards of Graphics & Packaging printed parts.

Be part of the team who do and manages the following:

• Dyson Part Approval Process (for G&P-owned parts) against established standards & tolerance.
• Print and materials development to realize creative visions.
• Maintain a consistent working style within brand guidelines.
• Analyse test and trial results and communicate insights & findings with both technical and non-technical colleagues, and suppliers and constantly looking to challenge and develop Dyson engineering practices to continuously improve design and print quality. 
• Complete work in the agreed timescales and adheres to the schedules developed for Production.
• Actively encourage the ethos to think differently.

About you

Dyson's internship roles are competitive and delivering the next generation of Dyson technology is tough, so you will need to be: 

• Working towards or have achieved a relevant discipline degree in Art/Design/Print Production/Advertising/Media or equivalent.  
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Sound understanding of basic graphic design principles and commercial printing processes.
• Good exposure to POS, packaging mechanics, asset management, and pdf workflows.
• Experienced in using Designing Software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
• Able to evidence how you have applied your technical knowledge to solve problems, either through your internship, university projects, or as part of your co-curricular activities.
• Passionate about Dyson and our technology to help us meet our ambitious plans. 
• Graduating in 2024
• Able to commit for a minimum of 12 weeks from July 2023
